BOARD OF DIRECTORS RESPONSIBILITIES

Ohio CASA has a board that includes business, community, and philanthropic leaders from around the state, as well as several county CASA directors.  Having a board that includes a diversity of members from throughout Ohio increases the sense of ownership of Ohio CASA’s issues among the local population and fosters a sense of local responsibility for improving the CASA programs throughout the state.  Community, neighborhood, and county directors can recommend programs and research consistent with our mission that would better serve CASA children.  Business and philanthropic leaders can provide entrepreneurial expertise as well as work to develop a solid base of individual, corporate, and foundation donors.

The board monitors the effectiveness of Ohio CASA’s work as it impacts the children we serve, functions in a fiduciary role with respect to the Ohio CASA Association, and provides direction for the Association’s efforts.  The board must actively participate with the staff in the Association’s overall planning process, assist in creating program ideas and identify other areas of work consistent with our mission.  Additionally, the board must assist in securing adequate funding and identify other appropriate resources for the Association’s continued work.
