9th Annual CASA Day in Ohio

Ohio CASA was honored to take part in the 9th annual CASA Day in Ohio event, this year presented by the Summit County CASA program and board. On Friday, April 12th, they welcomed more than 20 CASA programs from around the state, in addition to other VIP champions for children: Juvenile Court Judge Teodosio of Summit County; LeeAnne Cornyn, Director of Children’s Initiatives at the Office of Governor DeWine; Sally Erny of National CASA; and Tina Husted, Ohio CASA’s newest board member.

As tables were filled with volunteers and program staff from around the state, Summit County CASA volunteers Jonathan Harrison and Amanda Carroll shared their motivation for becoming court appointed special advocates.

CASA Day in Ohio began in 2010 at the Ohio Supreme Court as a small local event to formally celebrate the advocacy work done by volunteers, and has grown into an annual event with more than 200 attendees from all over the state. Last year, Ohio CASA had more than 2,300 volunteers, and served more than 9,400 children in 52 counties.
